One Year Service Commitment

Member Hours

As an AmeriCorps grantee, the ASLA-CTNM NewMexiCorps Program serves to improve educational and employment outcomes for marginalized students and communities in New Mexico.


Members shall perform a minimum number of service hours as follows:


  • 1,700 hours for Full Time (Deadline to Begin Service is October 14th)
  • 1,200 hours for Three Quarter Time (Deadline to Begin Service is January 10th)
  • 900 hours for Half Time (Deadline to Begin Service is February 21st)
  • 675 hours for Reduced Half Time (Deadline to Begin Service is May 2nd)
  • 450 hours for Quarter Time (Deadline to Begin Service is June 6th)
  • 300 hours for Minimum Time (Post-Service Education Award only)
  • 100 hours for Abbreviated Time (Post-Service Education Award only)


Professional development and related trainings can comprise up to 20% of the required service hours.


Service hours are expected to be completed by August 31, 2025.

Background Check

National Criminal History Check

Each member must successfully complete:


(1) A nationwide check of the National Sex Offender Public website through NSOPW.gov;


(2) A check of the State criminal history record repository or agency-designated alternative for the individual's State of residence and State of service; and


(3) A fingerprint-based check of the FBI criminal history record database through the State criminal history record repository or agency-approved vendor.

Ineligible to Serve

 An individual shall be ineligible to work or serve in a position specified in § 2540.201(a) if the individual:


(a) Refuses to consent to a criminal history check described in § 2540.204;


(b) Makes a false statement in connection with a criminal history check described in § 2540.204;


(c) Is registered, or is required to be registered, on a state sex offender registry or the National Sex Offender Registry; or


(d) Has been convicted of murder, as defined in 18 U.S.C. 1111.
