Members serving as a K-12 Language Arts or Math Tutor should have a deep understanding of the subject(s) and will use their insight and creativity to adapt to each student's needs and learning style, engage and help students feel comfortable during sessions, provide academic support to student’s current classwork, and be able to supplement with additional resources. The Member will consult with the student’s language arts and math teachers as needed to develop effective ways to engage students in the subject matter. Tutors must be organized, creative, and patient when working with students and must also provide feedback to the school’s education team regarding individual student progress. (Note that NewMexiCorps members serving as tutors for the Albq. Sign Language Academy do NOT need to be proficient in ASL.)

• Experience in community organizing, education, health or social work desirable.
• Knowledge of the public education system in New Mexico as well as the operation of community-based organizations and institutions of higher education is an asset.
• Data-driven decision making, Relationship focused, Strong program management skills, Experience with schools, city government, or service organizations, Meeting facilitation skills, Effective communication skills (oral and written), Engagement of Underserved Communities, Bilingual Spanish Speaking (preferred, not required).

Members will be a strategic thought partner who will develop and execute programs that coordinate and align resources for students and their families to achieve the mission of their host site, with the goal of positively impacting educational and employment outcomes. The Member will work in collaboration with the school administration, liaisons, and other community stakeholders or resource supports to align, implement, and deliver programs, services, and opportunities. Resources to be coordinated and delivered will be identified through direct interactions, surveys, school and community town halls, or otherwise to be responsive to the academic, social-emotional, health, and other needs of the school and community.

• Applicants must possess a passion for the arts and a commitment to serving youth and adults, many with hearing impairment, developmental disability, and other special needs.
• Applicants must have a demonstrated knowledge of the subject area or related educational or work

K-5 Elementary Art Instructor

Art/Drama Instructors
Members will develop and implement a visual and performing arts program including elements of drawing, ceramics, photography, digital art, acting, performing, makeup, costume design, set-building, sound and lighting, and event promotion, as well as fieldtrips and other activities that will fully utilize the extensive art facility and provide a well-rounded art experience for high school transitions students and adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities.

Members will develop and implement activities for K-12 students through a variety of engagement methods
including assisting with completion of homework assignments, reading to students, leading educational-based art, drama, and musical activities, reviewing completed homework or test materials with students, and other activities designed to engage the students in their interests and academic pursuits.
